I have been craving some new Shabby Chic style in my bedroom and finally broke down and ordered the Petticoat Teal Euro Sham. I love it! It wasn’t cheap but so worth it. It’s beautifully made and HUGE. I love the muted color. I want to slowly build my bedding so that it looks like some of the beds I see on other blogs. I haven’t mastered the art of the messy bed yet, and yes, it is an art. To have it unmade and look lovely is not easy.
Notice the casual way the pillows are laid on Laurie’s guest bed? The picture above is from her website, http://heavens-walk.blogspot.com/. Please go visit her site – she makes the most beautiful dream catchers and her home is such a peaceful, serene, beautiful country home.
Notice the little dog curled up between the pillows. Pilar helps to “style” my pillow selection and make it a little less serious.
Pilar is an adorable Chihuahua who prefers my bed to her’s. She feisty and fun and spoiled.
Amanda at notsoperfectmess.blogspot.com has mastered the art of the messy, casual bed. It makes me want to crawl in it and grab a good book and relax. And I love, love, love her armoire. We saw one like it at the antiques fair at Round Top but it was too tall for our ceilings.
I do love our bedroom, but I’ve grown tired of seeing the same old, same old. I want to redo it in stages, beginning with collecting beautiful bedding and moving on to painting and replacing some furniture. Although, in a shocking move, Farm Boy said he didn’t care if I painted our furniture white. He’s been against it for years!!!
I absolutely adore this guest bedroom at Urbanfarmgirlandco.blogspot.com. I love the planked wall, the finish on it, the Cabbages and Roses fabric, the light coming through the nearly sheer curtains, the white furniture…..because the Cabbages and Roses fabric can be pricey, I ordered some pillows off ebay. I ordered 3 of them in different colorways and played with them on my bed, but in truth, it just didn’t work for me. I knew I wasn’t going to plank the wall because we may decide to sell this house and that would be a whole lotta nail holes to patch. We keep blinds and curtains on our bedroom windows and don’t let the sun shine through too much because it’s so hot here in Texas. I could paint my furniture, but without the planked wall and the sun shining through it just didn’t work. My heart didn’t sing.
When I opened my euro pillow sham from Shabby Chic Couture, my heart sang, my eyes opened wide and I smiled. And I knew this was the direction I was meant to go in.
And that’s the wonderful part of blog land. You can see so many different ideas on the various blogs and pinterest until you find what works for you. I have even ordered a dream catcher from Laurie because it feels right. What about you? Do you have a specific style that makes you happy, whether it’s “in” or “not”?
